Establishment of KARB

  • Preliminary Research on the Need for Self-Regulatory Advertising Review and Its Operational Framework, Led by the Korea Advertising Federation (1990)

  • Operation of the Advertising Self-Regulation Subcommittee and Establishment Preparatory Committee Based on the Study and Research

  • On March 27, 1991, the Korea Advertising Review Board (KARB) was officially launched at its inaugural general meeting with the participation of eight advertising-related associations. Cho Gyu-Ha, President of the Korea Advertisers Association, was appointed as the first chairman.

  • To enhance the efficiency of the organization’s review operations, a special general meeting was held on July 29, 1993, to elect a new executive board, with Professor Yoo Bung-No, Honorary Professor at Yonsei University, appointed as chairman.

  • On November 10, 1993, KARB was officially approved as an incorporated association by the Ministry of Public Information, with 12 advertising-related organizations as its members.
